Creating meaningful connection with the viewers: An Artistic Journey into Capturing Authentic Warmth and Emotions

This month, we are going to learn more about our Tokyo-based fashion artist, Tatsuhiro Nozaki.

Can you tell us about your background and journey as a fashion artist? What led you to pursue a career in this field?

Nozaki: I am of the opinion that within the realm of fashion art, there exists a shared connection between individuals, regardless of their gender. This connection is influenced by various factors such as one's choice of attire, the brand they opt for, and the individuals who also embrace that particular style. This aspect intrigued me, leading me to independently study and explore it further.

How would you describe your artistic style? What influences and inspirations contribute to your unique creative vision?

Nozaki: My style is to unleash my creativity through digital art. I strive to capture the essence of analogue art in a medium that is uniquely digital. My drawing inspiration came from my time in Tokyo, as well as magazines and social media, I bring forth a vibrant and personalized expression of my own sensibilities.

How do you stay current with emerging fashion trends and styles while also maintaining your own signature aesthetic?

Nozaki: It's crucial to examine your core thoughts, sensibilities, colors, and drawing styles before embracing a new fashion trend or style.

Can you share some examples of your previous work or projects? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?

Nozaki: When it comes to the artwork displayed in restaurants and bars, it's crucial to pay attention to the owner's vision and the story behind their establishment. Understanding their thoughts during the store's creation and their future aspirations is key. This approach helps me capture the genuine warmth and emotions shared between people, something that AI cannot comprehend. I then reflect these sentiments in my art, creating a meaningful connection with the viewers.

Have you ever had to make sacrifices in your creative vision to meet a client's needs? If so, how did you navigate that situation?

Nozaki:  I am not a painter who focuses on replicating artworks, therefore if there is a disagreement with the client, it might be wise to reassess the situation. Rest assured, I will make every effort to deliver to the best of my abilities.

How do you balance creativity with commercial viability in your work? How do you strike a balance between creativity and commercial feasibility?

Nozaki: I believe it's beneficial to maintain two separate approaches for creativity and commercialism. This is due to the fact that the vibe of a marketable image may not always align with the vibe of a personal favourite painting.

What do you hope to achieve in your career as a fashion artist, and how do you plan to continue growing and evolving creatively in the years to come?

Nozaki: I am looking to partner with a reputable brand for collaboration. Additionally, I aim to expand the reach of my work globally. I think it is crucial to enhance the promotion of my art and personal brand to elevate the value of my painting.
