Unveiling the Artistry of Sylvia Baldeva: A Journey into Fashion Romanticism

This month, we are going to learn more about our Paris- based fashion artist, Sylvia Baldeva.

Can you tell us about your background and journey as a fashion artist? What led you to pursue a career in this field?

Sylvia: As a Fine Artist and Fashion Designer, I have combined these two artistic fields. The eagerness for beauty and creativity were the main motivation.

How would you describe your artistic style? What influences and inspirations contribute to your unique creative vision?

Sylvia: My style is free of expression. I try to depict spontaneously the attitudes and the moods of the subjects. My inspiration comes from all kinds of visual references as well as the real life.

How do you stay current with emerging fashion trends and styles while also maintaining your own signature aesthetic?

Sylvia: Being always tuned on trends and working constantly on my personal creativity, allows to match and to fuse these fields.

How do you approach a new project or assignment? How do you translate ideas and concepts into visual representations?

Sylvia: Usually, I let the ideas to come themselves. The first ones are the strongest. Then I can make research for shapes, attitudes, techniques.

Are there any specific techniques, mediums, or software that you specialize in or prefer to work with? How do these tools enhance your artistic process?

Sylvia: I usually work with traditional techniques such as watercolour, ink, pencil, pastel... which make the artworks livelier and unique. Though I can complete afterwards with some software and make some adjustments.

How do you handle constructive criticism or feedback on your artwork? Can you share an example of a situation where feedback helped you grow as an artist?

Sylvia: I can say that nobody is perfect, and a creative project is essentially a creative process. In every creative process there are things to improve or redo. Though a solid client's brief is the best way to avoid wasting time and to efficiently reach the client's expectations.

How do you balance creativity with commercial viability in your work?

Sylvia: This is difficult to balance, as the commercial part is quite time consuming and requires a completely different way of mind. So, I try to organize my time.
